The first step in jumping rope (after buying a rope) is to size it.

Adjusting the length is incredibly important.

It could be the difference between a great jump rope session and a nightmarish workout.

Here’s how to adjust your jump rope to the correct length:

Two different ways:

One foot

  1. Stand on the rope with one foot.
  2. Pull the handles up until they are 1-2 inches below your armpit.

Two feet

  1. Stand on the rope with two feet.
  2. Pull the handles up until they are 6 inches below the collarbone.
